Academic Senate

The Academic Senate is responsible for all matters relating to the organisation, planning and coordination of teaching and research activities that are not reserved by the Statute to other bodies.
The Academic Senate is composed of:

• the Rector, who chairs it;
• the Director of the Department;
• the Scientific and Teaching Heads of Area;
• two representatives elected from among the tenured teaching staff of IASA, including at least one researcher, or up to a maximum of five where the teaching staff number more than five;
• two representatives elected from among the technical and administrative staff of IASA;
• two PhD student representatives, serving a two-year term, elected from among PhD students whose ordinary remaining course duration is at least one year at the date of the election. Student representatives are excluded from votes on matters relating to the recruitment of teaching and research staff.
  

Except as otherwise provided with regard to the term of office of the researcher, student and Scientific Head of Area representatives, the Academic Senate serves a three-year term.
