Governance

IASA is a non-state higher education institution with special status, providing residential advanced training in agriculture, based in Jolanda di Savoia (FE), Italy.

Establishment:  IASA was established by Decree-Law No. 25 of 14 March 2025, converted with amendments by Law No. 69 of 9 May 2025 (Official Gazette No. 109 of 13 May 2025), with the aim of furthering the goals of the Mattei Plan for the development of the African continent in the field of higher education, and of bridging the gap between traditional agriculture and modern technologies.

Activation:  By Decree No. 264 of 20 March 2026 (registered by the Court of Auditors on 10 April 2026, No. 795), the Minister of University and Research – following a favourable opinion from ANVUR regarding the fulfilment of the requirements by the promoter, BF S.p.A. – set:

  • the establishment and initial accreditation of IASA based in Jolanda di Savoia (FE), with B.F. S.p.A. as promoting body;
  • the approval of the School's Statute and Teaching Regulations;
  • the launch of the School's academic programmes from the 2026/2027 academic year onwards;
  • the application to the School of the provisions concerning legally recognised non-state universities, with the exception of those set out in Article 2 of Law No. 243 of 29 July 1991.
The Promoter

The promoter of IASA is BF S.p.A., supported by its subsidiaries BF International Best Fields Best Food Ltd for development activities consistent with the strategies of the Mattei Plan, BF Educational S.r.l. for training and continuing professional development activities, and Fondazione BF Research for research and technology transfer activities, in order to support the pursuit of IASA's institutional aims.
